LENGTHY SERVICE

MR. W. S. BENNETT RETIRING ON MARCH 31 A change in the executive control of Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, is announced in connection with the retirement of Mr W. S. ESennett from the post of superintendent for Australia. M. Bennett has served 56 years with the firm, and his retirement will take effect on March 31. 1-Ie joined the company’s staff at Rockhampton in 1891. and was appointed manager of the Townsville branch in 1906. ' lie went to Wellington as manager in 1910, and in 1928 was appointed superintendent for New Zealand. Mr Bennett was transferred to Australia in 1936 to take up the post from which he is now retiring. Mr Bennett will be succeeded by Mr K R Elder, who joined the company in Sydney in 1910. After filling several positions in the company's Sydney branch. Mr Elder was appointed manager in South Australia in 1940. For the past 12 months he has been attached to the superintendent’s department as assistant to Mr Bennett.
