OBITUARY

MR, W. R. BREINGAN WAIPAOA RESIDENT Born in Gisborne 58 years ago, Mr. William Rankin Breingan died at the Cook Hospital on Wednesday night. After his schooling in the district he followed .the occupation of a slaughterman. first in the employ of Nelson Brothers’ freezing works 'at Taruheru and later at the Waipaoa freezing works. At the age of 27 he married Miss Ella Morrow. He was well known in the district as a quiet-living resident of Waipaoa, where he had been living for the past 23 years. The deceased took a keen interest in the Druids’ Lodge and was a member for 40 years. During the war he served for three years in the guards vital points section of the New Zealand army. While still serving he suffered an illness and was demobilised. Since then his health has not been good There remain to mourn .their loss his widow, one son, Mr. Ivan Breingan, Tauranga, and four daughters. Mrs. W. Hardon. Tauranga, Mrs. R. Kerr, Petone Miss Daphne Breingan, Wellington. and Miss Ray Breingan, Gisborne. There are four grandchildren. Mr. Breingan is survived also by two brothers, Mr. E. Breingan. Waima.ta Valley, and Mr. Jack Breingan, Te Kuiti, and two sisters, Mrs. E. Cook, Bushmere, and Mrs. S. Lyons, Gisborne. After a service in Cochrane’s chapel at 11 a.tn. on Saturday the funeral will leave for the Taruheru cemetery.

MRS. ISOBELLA WATSON Mrs. Isobella Watson, aged 62, passed away at the Cook Hospital this morning.

She was the daughter of well-known settlers in the Makauri district, the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCullough, and was horn and lived in that district all her life. She married, at the age of 19, Mr. George Stanley Watson. Of a very quiet disposition, she was liked by all who came into contact with her. She did not enjoy the best of health during the past few years. She is survived by her husband and five sons and four daughters—Mr. Earnest Watson Tolaga Bay, Messrs. Reginald, Charlie, Norman and William Watson, all of Makauri, and Mesdames R. Grayson and R. A. Scott, Makauri, Mesdames H. Finlay and A. Watson, Gisborne, and Miss M. Watson, Makauri. There are 17 grandchildren. A service will be held at Cochrane’s chapel. William street, to-morrow at 3 p.m., after which the funeral will leave for the Taruheru cemetery.
