IGNORE UNITED NATIONS CAPETOWN. Jna. 27. The motion by the Leader of the Opposition, Dr. D. F. Malan. that South Africa should ignore the United Nations’ request that South-West Africa should be placed under a trusteeship were defeated by 82 votes to 46. A United Party amendment, expressing full support for General Smuts’ policy on both the South-West African and Indian questions, was passed by 82 votes to 48.
