BIG STRIKE ON RAND RIVAL UNION FACTIONS (11 a.m.) CAPETOWN. Jan. 29 Thirty of the Rand’s 45 large gold mines are now affected by a strike, when began on Monday and it is estimated that more than 8000 miners are involved. The strike is the outcome of an internal dispute in the United Mineworkers’ Union. It is likely to lead to physical violence between the contending wings of the union.
