U.S. INTEREST IN GREENLAND

FEARS OF NORTH POLAR AIR ATTACK PURCHASE OFFER TALKS UNCONFIRMED (9 a-m .) WASHINGTON, January 29. American officials commenting on a report from Copenhagen that the United States is discussing with Denmark the purchase of Greenland, said Greenland’s future had been discussed but no proposals had been made by I lie United States. The Copenhagen newspaper Ukstrabladct reported that the sale of Greenland, Denmark’s only colonial possession, had been discussed for several months by interested but unidentified Danish and American parties, and the Americans were not frightened when the Danes mentioned 1,000,000,000 dollars as the price. The New York Herald-Tribune says it is learned that Greenland’s status was discussed incomlusivclv in November by the former United Slates Secretary of State Mr; J. Brynes. and the Danish Foreign Minister, U. Gustav Rasmussen.
