CLEAVAGE IN BRANCH TRAMWAY UNION POLICY (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 30. “There is no indication of a cleavage among the members of the Dunedin branch of the New Zealand Tramway Workers’ Union,” said the National secretary of the union, Mr P. A. Hansen yesterday when reports from Dunedin were referred to him. Mr Hansen said the results of the election of officers at the annual meeting of the Dunedin branch last Sunday had been received and also reports regarding the meeting. The information, particularly re-election of lost year’s officers, did not indicate a cleavage in the branch. “The reports I have received from Dunedin claim that the election of officers has in no uncertain manner confirmed the policy carried out by tire Dunedin branch during the last 12 months," said Mr Hansen, who added that, the president of the branch, Mr W. B. Richards, had been re-elected with 221 votes, compared with 93 votes for his opponent.
