EMPIRE GOLD CUP
INTERNATIONAL EVENT AMERICAN PROPOSAL (9 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 29. Mr. James Butler, president of the Empire Racing Association, of New York, arrived in London yesterday with a plan for an annual £25,000 international horse race to be known as the Empire Gold Cup. He is putting the idea before British and French owners, says the Daily Telegraph’s racing correspondent, and if the plan goes through, the first race would be held in the United States this year, the second at Ascot or Goodwood next year to coincide with the Olympic Games, and the third in France. The horses would be transported by air.
