DEFEAT OF BROMWICH SYDNEY TENNIS UPSET SYDNEY, Jan. 28. In the biggest tennis upset of the year, Dinny Pails took the Australian singles title from Jo'm Bromwich, 4—6, 6—4, 3—6, 7—5, 7 —6, in the final at White City to-day Pails’ serving A'as the deciding factor in his victory. He served 17 aces. Pails saved a match point when down two sets to one. He then outstayed Bromwich to win his first Australian singles championship. In the final of the women’s singles championship the holder, Mrs. N. Bolton, was not extended to beat Mrs. H. Hopman, 6—3, 6 —2.
