FIRE-BUG SUSPECTED BLAZING BUSH PERIL MELBOURNE, Jan. 27. Five fires which menaced tiie township of Lome were seen by observers in a patrolling plane to have been deliberately lighted Ait observers spotted the first fire and brigades and volunteers turned out. Four other fires were seen to start at half-mile intervals. They advanced a mile and a half towards Lome before they were brought under control.

Manv other bush fires occurred in Victoria during the week-end. but none assumed dangerous proportions.
