SCULLING CHAMPION

PEARCE OFFERS RACE AUSTRALIAN OARSMAN OTTAWA, Dec. 9. The champion professional sculler, Bobby Pearce, who is a lieutenant in the Canadian Navy, said to-day that he was willing to meet the Australian, Evans Paddon, in a championship match at Toronto in 1947 if it can be arranged. He added: “I have had my day and will willingly step aside to see somebody else get a crack at it. What I would really like to see would be a world championship race among Australia. England and Canada.” Pearce suggested that the contestants should be Jack Gaudaur. Canada, Eric Phelps, England, and Evans Paddon, Australia.
