Rebel Clash Near Manila
Filipino military police equipped with mortars and machine-guns are staging a running battle with between 400 and 000 rebels near San Mateo, less than 25 miles from Manila. Police officials believe that the rebel forces are attempting to evacuate the Central Luzon Plain to seek refuge in Iho less strongly guarded southern provinces.
