SHETLAND FLYING-BOATS

LONDON, Nov. 19

After public expenditure estimated at more than £50,000 the construction of more giant 100-passenger flyingboats of the Short Shetland type has been dropped because. this already has been out-dated by Saunders Roe’s development of a similar boat equipped with jet and propellor engines states the Evening News. The first Shetland prototype caught fire and sank in January and the second is being completed and will be used for development work.
