At supper Mrs. Jones cut the handsome, birthday caKe, which sne had presented to the club. 'idle toast list wiis as follows:—'me i-oyal toast, proposed by Mrs. Jones; "President and Vice-rresidents,” proposed by Miss U. ffumphroys and responded to by Mrs. Jones; "Secretaries, Past and Present," proposed by Mi's. Jones and responded to by Miss V. McCarthy; “Visitors," proposeu by Miss A! Thomson, and responded to by Mrs. Coleman; ■ Absent hfiends,” proposed by JVliss X. Jukes. In proposing the toast to the “President and Vice-Presidents,” Miss Humphreys voiced the opinion of all present when sne eulogised the wonderful work Mrs. Jones had done lor the club during her HI years as president. During the toast to* "Absent f riends,” special mention was made of Miss L. DouglasSmith, Durban, Miss Ream Woodward, England, and Miss L. Mac Shane, Auckland. Mrs. Jones voiced the regret of members when she spoke of the impending departure from Gisborne of Miss M. North, who had been a. very entnusiastic member during her slay here. Miss Merle Lister, who has returned after nine years in England, was welcomed back.
A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Menzies for her many kindnesses and attention.
PIANO RECITA.L On Saturday night members of the British Music Society will be privileged to hear Miss Molly Skillen, solo pianist, of Gisborne. Although Miss Skillen has broadcast several times, this will be her first appearance at a semi-public recital. As the music salon has limited seating capacity, it has been accessary to restrict the audience to members only, non-members being given an opportunity to hear a repeat performance on Saturday night November 307 Mrs. Bird, contralto of Volaga Bay, will be the assisting artist.
