“Do you know of any other country where the proportion of owners of savings bank accounts is as high as in New Zealand?” asked Mr. D. W. Coleman M.P.. speaking at Kaiti on Tuesday evening. “Do you know that of the 1750 000 people-Maoris and Europeans. mcn women and children—living in New Zealand, no fewer than 1,161.000 have Government post office savings bank accounts?” He added that their totals of savings, with those of national savings, provided proof positive that \'ew "’Zealand had never been more mosnerous or the wealth of the country |nore evenly distributed.
