SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
EQUIPMENT AND STAFFING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. The New Zealand Women Teachers’ Association states that replies to remits presented recently by it to the actingMinister of Education, Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer, indicate a hopeful position with regard to improvements in school conditions.
The reply to the request for better heating and cleaning of schools stated that it was the Government’s wish to improve the standard and increased grants for this were now receiving the Minister’s attention.
The provision of more equipment was receiving the attention of the department. Much infant material had been supplied, and more was being manufactured and would be distributed to the schools. In new schools wallboard was installed. As soon as more teachers were available it was hoped to introduce a more liberal staffing schedule. This would afford a measure of relief for an infant mistress in her duties of supervision and direction of the work throughout her department-
