DISAPPROVAL VOICED

ATTITUDE OF MINISTER ADMINISTRATION OF LAW (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. At the quarterly meeting of the Council of the. New Zealand Law Society the following motions were passed unanimously:— “That the council of the New Zealand Law Society expresses the strongest disapproval -of the attitude taken bv the Minister of Lands in his letter of May 7 to Mr. S. Lewis, wherein the Minister sought to force the resignation of a person holding a judicial office upon grounds which the council considers improper and which tend to interfere with the impartial administration of justice.” “That this council strongly affirms the principle tha.t there should be no Ministerial, political, or other interference with the administration of any judicial office and that no holder of such office should be dismissed without good and sufficient cause and without having adequate opportunity before an independent tribunal of answering the charges against him."
