BOY BLOWN TO PIECES

ATTEMPT TO MAKE BOMB COMPANION INJURED (10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 22. When residents heard a loud explosion in a paddock at Casino, on the north coast of New South Wales, they found that a 12-year-old boy had been blown to pieces and another seriously injured. By the evidence of the cartridge cases lying at the scene of the accident, the police believe the boys took the explosives, possibly including a grenade, from a nearby Dutch camp and were trying to make a bomb. No ammunition of any kind is reported missing from the camp. The injured boy is not expected to live.
