FAST JOURNEY

65 HOURS FROM BRITAIN HAWAII-FIJI NON-STOP (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. The return journey to New Zealand of the Finance Minister, Mr. W. Nash, covered ti totsl distance of 12,(i00 miles, which was spanned in 65 flying hours. A feature of the trip was a non-stop flight from Hawaii to Fiji in 14 hours. It is believed' to be the first non-stop flight between these two points since the late Sir Charles Kingslord Smith made the same flight in 1D34. Stops were also made at the Azotes, Washington, Ottawa and San Francisco. The Lancastrian landed at Ohakea at 3„ m on Saturday. Mr. Nasli was met by'the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, and by other Government representatives. They later proceeded to Wellington by car. "We had a delightful trip I believe we broke one or two records, said Mr. Nash. Mrs Nash and the Minister’s private secretary. ’ Mr. D. F. Campbell, were among those who returned with Mr. Nash.
