HIGHER STATUS
DIPLOMATIC RANK
(9 a.m.) CANBERRA, April 15. It appeared certain that the rank of Australian- representatives overseas would soon be raised to that of ambassadors, said the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. H. V. Evatt. He added that it was the practice among other members of the United Nations, and Australian diplomats felt at a disadvantage because at a conference they had not the same diplomatic rank. Esnceiaily as Australia had a scat on the Security Council, it would be advisable to adopt the same scheme.
