POWER CUTS

Sir,—The power position is very interesting, hut I doubt if the additional restrictions will rectify the position. The most effective time to shut down would be from C p.m. to 8 p.m. This would cause but little interference with work or business, and would allow the preparation of a meal for G o'clock. We might have to cat it by gas or kerosene lamps—no great hardship. Between GO and 70 years ago we had no better light than that provided by a couple of candles and managed very well. F. BEAMISH, Puha.
