RENEGADE SUSPECTS
BRITONS IN EUROPE 48 PERSONS CONVICTED (9 a.m.) LONDON, April 14. The Home Secretary, Mr. Chuter Ede. disclosed in a written reply to the House of Commons that of 68 civilians owing allegiance to the Crown, who were caplured by the Allies in Europe and interrogated to ascertain if they could be tried for subversive activities. 15 were associated with the British Union of Fascists or “The Link.” The figure for servicemen was six of the 57 suspects. Of 50 persons brought to trial 48 had been convicted, one civilian case was sub judice and one member of the armed forces had been acquitted.
