DEATH OF AIRMAN
BULLET IN FOREHEAD WENT RABBIT SHOOTING (P.A.) TIMARU. April 8. Flight Lieutenant Maurice Fifield, aged 25, died on Saturday evening as a result of a bullet wound in the forehead. With his wife he had attended a carnival in Geraldine during the day. When he returned to the home of his father-in-law. Mr. W. R. Warne, at Te Moana, before tea, Flight Lieutenant decided to do a little rabbit shooting and was climbing over a gate when his wife heard a shot and found him lying dead on the other side of the gate. An inquest was opened and adjourned.
