COMPLETE DISPERSAL ABERDEEN ANGUS SALE Breeders of Aberdeen Angus cattle will be keenly interested in the complete dispersal of the Waitaria Stud by a well-known and successful breeder, Mr G. V. Smith, Gisborne, on May 1. The offering will comprise 225 head of registered breeding cows, heifers, and stud and run bulls, including the three herd sires, End of Ngawaka sire Embassy sth of Mangatoro, Etheridge of Tillyrie, the imported bull sired by Edmonton of Bleaton, and Etheridge Ist of Waitaria sired by Etheridge of Tillyrie and out of the well-known matron Harmonic of Gwavas, who has produced many show cattle, including the 1941 Dannevirke champion. The herd sires at Waitaria have all been outstanding. Ossian of Waiterenui and his two sons, Barkis and Colossus of Waiterenui, were followed in 1941 by the purchase of the imported bull Etheridge of Tillyrie, a first prize yearling at Perth, Scotland, and later m New Zealand secured a great show record, including the championship and champion of all breeds at the Hawke s Bay Show. His stock have realised up to 415gns. at the Dannevirke annual sales. , Among the cows to be offered will be found Burnette, Faun and Charm of Waitaria, show cows of outstanding merit; Flora, dam of Etheridge 6th of Waitaria, sold at Dannevirke for 220gns.: Gay of Waitaria, full sister to Federal, champion Dannevirke sales 1941; Ideal, full sister to Etheridge 19th, third prize 2-year-old and sold for 360gns.; Astrid, dam of Etheridge 19th.; Buttercup, dam of Etheridge 20th, sold at the 1946 sales for 220gns.; Ellon, a show cow and dam of show stock, and full sister to Dolphin, Dannevirke champion 1039. \ Also in the catalogue is the 3-year show heifer Joan, her dam, a show cow, being twin sister to the show’ cow Ellen; other outstanding heifers are Jassey and Joy oi \\aitaiia, from the show cows Burnette and I*aun. Among the 2-year-old heifers to be offered is Kathleen, a show heifer and full sister to Etheridge 17th of Waitaria, sold for 415gns. at the Dannevirke sales.
