N.Z. TEAM IN SYDNEY DASH AND COMBINATION MARGIN OF TWO GOALS (10 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 5. fu a match played yesterday afternoon at Kydnlmcre, Sydney, the Few Zealand Army hockey team defeated Northern Suburbs by four goals to two. The Australian team was a representative one of players from oiio of .Sydney’s two associations. The standard of play was high considering the fact that the season here will not open for another month.

The visitors impressed with their dash and combinat ion.

The New Zealanders, playing on grass for the first time since leaving Italy, found the ground slippery at first but soon settled down.

Olomvorth, the inside right, scored three goals and Lawry, centre forward, one for New Zealand. Lord, centre forward, goalcd twice for Northern Suburbs.

The game was in doubt, until the closing stages when lack of fitness told on tho Australians.

New Zealand scored first and Northern Suburbs equalised. Now Zealand’s second goal enmo with the first spell half gone, and again Northern Suburbs evened the score. Tho rest of the half and part of tho second went, by, both teams trying hard, but were unable to penetrate the defence. A beautiful forward movement went tho length of the field and resulted in Lawry finding the net. Soon afterward, Glenworth got. away and clinched matters with a fine goal from close in. Other outstanding New Zealand players were Whit ford, left wing, and Williamson, half, both of whom contributed sound positional play and stickwork to the New Zealand combination.
