APPLES FOR BRITAIN

SHIPMENTS ASSURED CANBERRA, March 21. Britain will now be able to accept 10.000 tons of Australian and New Zealand apples from this season’s crop, stated the Minister of Commerce, Mr. W. J. Scully. Sufficient refrigerated space will be provided to lift 7500 tons of apples from Australia and 2500 tons from New Zealand in March, April and May. Earlier, Britain refused an Australian offer of 2,000,000 bushels of apples because of lack of refrigerated ships and priority for meat and dairy produce.
