THOUSANDS OF HOMES LOST
BRITISH TROOPS FIGHT FIRE (9.30 a.m,) BANGKOK, Feb. 14. All the available British troops, Gurkhas and Sikhs, were called out to help to fight, a great fire which, after starting in a well-known silverware district. within a few hours swept through the most densely-populated market area in Bangkok, gutting thousands of small houses and threatening to make at least 10.000 people homeless.
It is feared that the casualties will be very nigh. The majority of blazing houses were Chinese, but numbers of Siamese and Indian dwellings were also destroyed. Low water pressure hampered the fire-lighter' while the wind fanned the flames.
