U.S. SEEKING RIGHTS

LANDING IN AUSTRALIA (9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. 13. The United States is pressing for the granting to American planes of the right to land in Australia. The main pre-war barrier to an exchange of landing rights was the United States refusal to allow British planes to land at Hawaii, but it is understood that the United States is prepared to concede this to assist an early decision.

The delay in the conference between Britain, New Zealand and Australia, to be held in New Zealand in March, is holding up the Empire effort. The Australian Cabinet has given the Minister for Air, Mr. A. S. Drakeford, power to negotiate with the United States on reciprocal landing rights.
