The security for such Loan will be a Special Rate of 1/240 of Id. in the £1 on all the rateable properties in the County of Cook on the basis of the unimproved value. Any person having any objection to the proposed application is called upon to submit the same in writing to the Cook County Council not later than Wednesday, 13th February. 1946. IN accordance with Order-in-Council dated 13th September, 1945, issued under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and the Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1945, I hereby notify that the Income Tax leviable under section 3 of the latter Act is payable at any office of the Land and Income Tax Department or at any moneyorder post office, in one sum on Thursday, 14th February, 1946 and that additional lax accrues if not paid by 7th March. 1946. Liability is not suspended by any objection, and tax must be paid by the prescribed date to avoid additional percentage; any overpayment will be refunded. Demands will be issued on or about 7th February, 1946, and must be presented with all payments. Taxpayers who do not receive an expected demand should communicate with the Superintendent of the office of the Land and Income Tax Department where the taxpayer’s records are filed. FEBRUARY INSTALMENT: The fourth quarterly instalment of the charge of 2/G in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March, 1945, is due on first February and must be paid within one month to avoid the 10% penalty for late payment. Companies and other corporate bodies are required to pav the full year’s charge within one month from the 7th FEBRUARY, 1946. Wages Tax: All employers of labour are notified that severe penalties are provided for failure to deduct and account for wages-tax (2/6 in £), in respect of all wages paid to permanent or casual employees, whether on a time, piece work or contract basis. REGISTRATION FEE: As from Ist April 1946, the Registration Fee will be abolished, the final instalment payable being:— (a) Male persons who are 20 years ox age before Ist May, 1945—final payment due Ist February, 1946. lb) Females, 10 years of age or over and Youths 16 to 20 years of age inclusive —Anal instalment clue Ist May, 1945. All male persons, who were 20 years of age before Ist May, 1945, who are not exempt, are therefore required to pay the usual quarterly instalment of 5/- within one month from Ist February, 1946. Those entitled to exemption must complete the exemption application form within 7 days after the last day for payment. Employers are reminded, of their obligation to check the Registration Fee coupon-books of employees to ensure that ail due instalments have been paid. Severe penalties are provided in cases where an employer retains in his employ any person who is in arrears for one month or more in payment of an instalment of the Registration Fee. . Any person who has paid, instalments, the due date of which is subsequent to Ist April. 1946, may obtain a cash refund of such instalments on furnishing to the Commissioner of Taxes.
