Borough Council Tribute

The death of Mr. Andrew Wood, which occurred suddenly on Monday evening, was referred to by the Mayor, Mr. Bull, at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council. The Mayor stated that throughout his residence in Gisborne Mr. Wood had been bandmaster of the Gisborne City Band, and in that capacity, especially in recent years, had been of the utmost assistance to the council and to the citizens generally. Mr. Wood was a most lovable character, and it was possible that his devotion to duty in leading his band at all hours of the day and night had adversely affected his already failing health.
