WAIROA NEWS
The Rev. E. T. King, who haa been minister in charge of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at Wairoa for the past four and a half years, will retire early next month and leave for Levin, where he will reside. During hi 3 stay in Wairoa Mr. King haa displayed a been interest in horticulture, having acted as fudge to a number of shows and also filling the position with credit as steward to the Wairoa A. and P. Society. Both Mr. and Mrs. King are to be the guests at a farewell function on Wednesday evening. The retiring minister will be succeeded by the Rev. D. Duncan, who recently returned from overseas. The death has occurred in Wairoa at the age of 65 years of Mr. William John Madams, a well known bush contractor, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Madams, who was unmarried, was a native of Palmerston South, and was held in high esteem by a large number of friends. The funeral took place in Wairoa yesterday, Mr. C. C. Sandford. of the Methodist Ch"*-oh. conducting the service.
