OBITUARY

MR. JOHN OGILVIE ACTIVE AT 97 YEARS The death occurred at the Cook Hospital on Sunday night of Mr. Joim Ogilvie, a native of Scotland who had spent 70 years in the Dominion and who had lived to within three years of his century. Mr. Ogilvie was taken ill on Saturday, and was admitted to hospital yesterday in a failing condition. At the age of 12 years, he had gone to sea with the crew of a sailer, and spent several years travelling in different parts of the world. He retained up to the tune of his death the most remarkable clarity of memory, and during the late war he was able to identify by personal association many of the "areas in which the armies and navies fought their greatest battles. He left the sea when he came to New Zealand and for the greater part of his life followed agricultural employFor the last 12 years he had lived with Mr. P. Rodgers at Patutahi, and he remained extremely active right up to the dav of his final illness. He was a single man, and had one surviving sister,- Miss jean Ogilvie, living in Scotland. , , The funeral will take place to-moi-row at 2 p.m. from Haismans private mortuary.
