The Wellington Racing Club's Sum- [ mer meeting opened at Trentham on Saturday in fine weather, the track , being in good order after light rain : early in the morning. There was a ! record attendance, and the totalisator handled a record turnover of £221,084 10/-, compared with £172,727 10/- on Cup Day last year. In the Te Marua Highweight, Burma clipped the heels of Bezany and fell, bringing down Court Judge, Kanui Tc Pai and Bitter Sweet. The Stewards found that the mishap was accidental.
