INDIANS’ CLOSE ESCAPE SINGAPORE, Jan. 18. The troopship Highland Brigade, carrying 2060 Indian troops, struck a mine off Singapore. The troops were transferred 300 at a time to another troopship, but transfers were stopped when it was seen that the Highland Brigade was in no danger of -sinking. The vessel was towed to Singapore.
