PERSONAL

Promotion to the rank of captain has been received by Lieutenant John N. Ford, who is attached to the British Fourteenth Army in Burma. Captain Ford is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Ford, Tauranga. and prior to enlistment in 1940, was a member of the staff of the Works Department, Gisborne He went to India in 1940.

The Rev. Wi Ti Tau Huata, of Wairoa, who has been awarded the M.C., is well known in Hastings, where he was stationed for some years as a Maori minister. He was aiso well known in Hawke's Bay Rugby football circles, having represented Hastings on many occasions. He is now on his way home with the Maori Battalion, in which he is a chaplain,
