RIMUTAKA TUNNEL WORK
(P A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. The Minister of Works, Mr. R. Semple, said to-day that he was not prepared to comment at this juncture on the Rimutaka tunnel project, but the proposal was being very seriously considered by the Ministry of Works and he hoped to make an announcement in the near future as to when the work would be commenced. The Works Department was erecting some accommodation near Kaitoke, but this would be occupied by men working on the Wellington water supply scheme and had no significance in relation to the tunnel project.
