Percy Wall, who were visitors to Gisborne far tho Green-Murphy wedding, returned to Waipukurau to-day. Miss ICirsty Williams, Kuaiigarehu, Tokomaru Bay, is visiting the South Island as the guest of Miss Deirdro Withers, Kaikoura. Mrs. E. Loisel, who was the guest of her sister. Mrs. S. j). Nathan, for the GreenMurphy wedding, returned to Tolaga Bay yesterday. Miss Elizabeth Reid, who has been spending the Christmas vacation with her parents, Mr. and Airs. S. Roid, Waihlrere, returned to Opotiki to-day. Jfesdamna Flanders. Hay, Muir, Bono, Wilson, Ferguson, Afunro and Graham have returned to Hastings after competing in tho Poverty Bay Croriuot Association’s annual tournament.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Charles and Afr. H. Rigby, who wove visitors to Gisborne for tho Poverty Bay Croquet Association’s annual tournament, left yesterday on their roturn to Hastings, via llotorun. Mr. and Airs. H. B. Williams. Turiliaua station, accompanied hy their son and daughter, Mr. B. Williams and Alias Jan Williams, and Miss E. Myhill, have returned from a visit to their shuck at Lake Kotoiti.

Alias Margaret Honnor, New Plymouth, has left for Australia, where she will take up a position at Canberra. She recently completed her B.A. degree at tho Auckland University Collego. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Hartgill, Palmerston North, Mr. and Mrs. W. KK. Hartgill, Akitio, and Aliases J. and C. Hartgill and Air. J. C. Hartgill, Daimcvirke, were visitors to Gisborne for the Green-Murphy wedding.

Atiss Patricia Harvey, Hastings, Miss Aloyna Abbott, Auckland, Miss Janet McRae, Wniroa, and Miss Sheila Macdonald, Kanakanaia. have been tho guests _of Alias Bunty Wellborno, Kelvin road, Haiti.

ENGAGEMENT Wilson—Forshaw.—Mr. and Mrs. F. Forshaw, Bulwer road, wish to announce the engagement of their elder daughter, Betty Alary, to Allan Charles Wilson, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wilson, formerly of Gisborne but now of Hastings. Fltzgibbons—Chamberlain.—Air. and Mrs. Nonnan Chamberlain, New Plymouth, have pleasure in announcing the engagement of their only daughter, Alarguerito, and Harold, son of Mrs. A. F. Atkinson, Gisborne, and the late Mr. H. F. Fltzgibbons.

VISITORS ENTERTAINED On Thursday, Airs. E. Loisel, Tolaga Bay, invited several friends to a charmingly arranged luncheon party at Almadale Guest House. Tho chief guests wore Mrs. R. Burns, Auckland, and Airs, J. Humphreys, Napier.

ARTIST WITH CONSIDERABLE TALENT Aliss Lois Watkins, who lately held ft successful art exhibtion in Gisborne, is the daughter of All-, and Airs. Rex. Watkins, Tolaga Bay. Her grounding in art was received from an Auckland correspondence school and later at tho Gisborne High School, whero among tho teachers who assisted her substantially to further her art studies was Air. Eric Gully, who instructed her at night classes. Having won her art bursary, she proceeded to Canterbury Collego to continue her four-year course, which she hopes will culminate in her winning her diploma. Alost of the pictures in her recont exhibition were sold for good prices to many residents of tho town with an appreciation of fine arts. She has formerly held a private showing for tho combined Women’s Institute and Farmers’ Union in Tolaga Bay. WEDDING RECEPTION

A very largo number of friends wore ententained by Airs. J. R. Aturphy, Kotcniaori, at a delightful reception following the marriage of hor daughter, Aliss Phillipa Alurphy, and Air. W. H. P. Green, Danncvirkc, at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday afternoon. Tho function was held at the home of Air. and Airs. J. Blair, Iranui road, the spacious garden with its shady trees providing an ideal setting for tho occasion. Tho wedding gifts were arranged in the drawing-room, which was artistically decorated with tiger lilies and gladioli. Alixed flowers in delicate shades were chosen for the adornment of tho various sittings-rooms. Afternoon tea was served in a largo marquee, advantageously placed on the lawn. Tho handsomo three-tier wedding cake was surmounted with a spray of gardenias. Airs. Alurphy was wearing a smart frock of floral cloque with a pastel blue coat and a large liat of navy straw accented with fuchsia-coloured flowers. Her bouquet was composed of gladioli in fuchsia tonings. A graceful frock of dusky pink French crepo and a hat to match were worn by Airs. Green, mother of tho bridegroom. Sho carried. a bouqeut of pale pink carnations.
