TRAM COLLISION
HARBOUR BRIDGE 50 PEOPLE INJURED ACCIDENT IN SYDNEY SYDNEY. Jan. 16. Fifty people were injured when two trams collided on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The accident occurred when the trolley pole of the leading tram came oil. When the tram braked hard it was hit by the following tram. Most of the injured were treated on the spot for shock, concussion and cuts due to flying glass. Twenty-one were taken to city hospitals. Late this morning it was announced that four were critically injured. Within five minutes of the accident four ambulances were in attendance. One of these rushing to the scene crashed into a military (ruck, hit another ambulance, and slewed across the roadway. Nobody was injured and the ambulance carried on with its work. Tram traffic on the bridge was held up for half an hour.
