WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. “The splendid co-operation oC the Government of New Zealand as well as of the people in contributing well over £1,000,000 of clothing for the suffering people of Europe has been a most outstanding success,” states a letter from Mr. Herbert H. Lehman, director-general of UNRRA to the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash. “Your proposal to recommend to your Government that it should accept responsibility for the costs incurred in New Zealand is one which calls for our sincere appreciation.”
