SECRETARY RESIGNS

BOARD OF TRADE POST DISPUTE WITH CRIPPS LONDON, Jan. 8. The Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, Mr. Ellis Smith, has resigned. In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr. C. R, Attlee, he said:— “Owing to differences with the President of the Board of Trade, Sir Stafford Cripps, I place my resignation in your hands.” The Press Association recalls that Mr. Smith in the House of Commons recently said he felt a little uneasy when he saw huge supply dumps in the country at the mercy of the weather.
