WOMEN’S TEAM

INDOOR BOWLS WINNERS The indoor bowls tournament series, conducted by the Gisborne Friendly Societies’ Council, was continued in the Man trap apa Oddfellows* Hall last evening. Fifteen teams participated in the tournament and of those Rebckah A, consisting of women bowlers, succeeded in gaining the final decision.# The women are to be congratulated on their fine performance as they were the first complete women’s team to run out tournament winners for some time. Results: First Round. —Manchester Unity 13 7 v. Druids C: Hibernian B 11 v. Rebckah B 3: Stir of Gisborne (5 v. Hibernian C 3; Rebckah A (> v. Foresters A i); Encampment 3 v. Reehahitcs A 2; Foresters B 4 v. Manchester Unity A 3; Rechabites B 5 v. Foresters C 4; Hibernian A, a bye. Second Round.—Hibernian A <> v. Encampment 2: Rechabites B <i v. Manchester Unity B 4; Rebckah A f» v. Star of Gisborne 4; Hibernian B 4 v. Foresters B 3. Semi-Final. —Rebckah A 5 v. Hibernian B 4; Rechabites B 11 v. Hibernian A 3. Final.—Rebekah A 7 v. Rechabites B 4. The winning team comprised: Mf:-dames Pinching, Barradell, Miss L. Masemann. Mrs. English (s). Runners-up were: Mcsdames .T. Crosby and Wallen, F. E. Wallen, C. King (s).
