GEN. CHIANG IN NANKING

EIGHT YEARS’ EXILE

(10 a.m.) NEW YORK. Dec. 19. A semi-official despatch reported that General Chiang Kai-Shek returned triumphantly to Nanking, from which he was forced to flee in 1937. Thousands crowded the airfield to greet General Chiang, who was accompanied by his wife, when he arrived from Peiping. They motored through the ancient .streets amid cheers from the inhabitants.
