Boy of 15 Rescues Girl
Quick action by a 15-year-old boy saved a girl who had slipped into the sea at the port of Napier on Sunday. While playing with several other children at the top of a concrete apron, which sloped steeply into the harbour, she slipped into the water, and was severely buffeted by the heavy sea running at the time. Her screams attracted a crowd, and several were preparing to go to her assistance when the b.oy clambered over rocks into the water, and pulled her out.
