VIGOROUS PROTEST
FRENCHMAN'S ARREST INCIDENT IN SHANGHAI (10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Dec. 18. Vigorously protesting against the Chinese arrest of the Frenchman, Roland Sarley, former director of the French municipal police at Shanghai, as an alleged collaborator, the French Consulate said France had not yet formally relinquished extraterritorial rights in China and described the arrest as a flagrant violation of the international treaties binding France and China. ______
