STAFF TRAINING
SOIL CONSERVATORS WORK FOR EX-SERVICEMEN Appreciation and approval of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council’s proposals for a staff tra ning scheme for ex-servicemen, was accorded by the Poverty Bay <\ tchmsn* Board yesterday when t wa; notified of the scheme. The council outlined arrangements made with various departments to employ and train staff after the Rehabilitation Department was assured of the ultimate employment of men assisted.
Scheme A provides for the council accepting responsibility for 12 trainees initially engaged as soil conservators. Such men would be recruited at various stages of the agricultural degree course, and after experience with the council would be available for catchment board appointments. Scheme B provides for assisting men with adequate practical farm experience and diploma of agriculture qualifications for positions as field officers, demonstration farm managers and project overseers.
