MENTAL NURSES

GIRLS FROM STATE OFFICES The district officer at Greymouth, Mr. G. Mitchell, stated that 27 women from Greymouth Government offices in the 21 to 29-year-old groups have received notices ordering them to report to the man-power office for interview with a view to determining how many can be directed to work as nurses at the Seaview mental hospital in Hokitika. There has been an ironic sequel to the dismissal of the appeals of two Greymouth women against direction to the Grey Hospital as domestics by the Industrial Man-power Committee at a sitting in Greymouth last week, as next day the essentiality of the hospital was revoked and accordingly nothing could be done to implement the committee's decision and the directions were withdrawn. No further directions can now be made to the hospital.
