Galvanising of Wire

Among the inquiries being prosecuted by the Standards Institute is one covering the requirements of farmers in relation to galvanised wire. It is known that in some districts, more notably in coastal regions with welldefined sea breezes as the prevailing normal condition, fencing wire loses the benefit of galvanising in a very few years, and the inquiry apparently presages an effort to establish a standard of protection suitable to such districts. The farmers’ organisations in the district have been approached for information on this subject, and an effort is being made to secure details of representative experiences with wire of different types and manufacture. Farmers’ Union officers feel that this inquiry has a particular application to the East Coast area, and shortly will invite co-operation in providing information to 'the Standards Institute,
