OBITUARY

MRS. THOMAS SHEAN The death occurred at the Cook Hospital yesterday of Mrs. Ivy Elizabeth Shean, wife of Mr. Thomas Shean, and a lifetime resident of Gisborne. Mrs. Shean had suffered recurring bouts of ill-health for some time, and passed away at the early age of 49 years. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Morrison, and her father was one of the best-known and most esteemed district residents, holding various municipal posts in which he established a record of faithful and efficient service. He was for many years custodian of the lire station and plant, and until his retirement was indefatigable, in the discharge of his duties. Members of his family shared his passion for punctuality and faithful performance of duty, and Mrs. Shean. as a school-girl, exemplified this by completing nine years’ attendance at the Gisborne Central without missing a single day. In her later life she gained wide esteem for her unselfish work on behalf of others. Much sympathy will be felt for her husband and for her three sisters, Mrs. J. Sass, Feilding, Mrs. J. English, Gisborne, and Mrs. R. E. Shipp, Gisborne. There will be a funeral / service at Cochrane’s chapel on Wednesday at 1.40 p.m.
