His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newail, received Mr. and Mrs. J. Macdonald, Feilding, on Saturday morning and handed to them the Military Medal awarded their son, the late Driver J. G. Macdonald. Their Excellencies attended the annual church service for doctors and nurses at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul’s yesterday morning.—P.A. General George Carpenter, supreme leader of the Salvation Army, will leave London next Friday by air for Australia and New Zealand, whore he will conduct campaigns in the main cities. He is due to arrive at Auckland on January 3, 1946, and will conduct a series of five-day meetings in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Wellington in turn. —P.A. Mr. E. A. Cameron, inspector of the Bank of Australasia in New Zealand, and chairman of the Associated Banks, will retire at the end of the year. Mr. 11. D. T. Williamson, manager of the Auckland branch of the bank, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Cameron as inspector and will assume his new duties next month. Mr. H, C. Thomas, manager of the Pitt street. Sydney, branch, has been appointed manager of the Auckland branch.
