FINNISH PRESIDENT
MANNERHEIM RESIGNS
DIPLOMATIC ILLNESS? (9 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 21. Field-Marshal Mannerheim yesterday resigned the Presidency of Finland, reports the Daily Express’ correspondent in Stockholm. Field-Marshal Mannerheim announced that he is unable to
carry on because of illness, but Helsinki political circles believe that he resigned rather than indentify himself with the forthcoming trials of Finland's war criminals.
The Premier, M. Paasakivi, is acting as President temporarily.
