MEAT CONSUMPTION

RATIONING EXCEEDED (11.20 a.m.) CANBERRA. Sept. 23. Between 20 and 30 per cent more meat was being consumed in Australia than was provided for under rationing, said Mr. J. J. Clark, a member of the Commonwealth Meat Advisory Committee, in the House of Representatives today. This was being done by black market operators who were selling moat at big profits.

Mr. Clark said that during the war Britain had obtained big meat supplies from the United States, but these had now stopped and Britain needed bigger quantities frmn Australia.
